Whispers n’est pas un échec à proprement parler, il n’a simplement pas encore vu le jour… (oui, l’espoir fait vivre !) En 2019, j’approche une petite boîte de production pour leur présenter mon projet de fin d’études : un film de chevalières et chevaliers se déroulant pendant la guerre de Cent Ans, plus précisément lors du siège de Caen de 1417. Conscient des réalités économiques qu’un tel film impose, je consacre 90 % du scénario aux dialogues et à des séquences d’intérieurs ne nécessitant que deux à trois personnages. La production est conquise !
Striclty speaking, Whispers is not a failure : it has simply not seen the light of day yet… (yes, hope gives life!) In 2019, I approach a small production company to present my graduation project : a film of women and men knights taking place during the Hundred Years War, more precisely during the siege of Caen in 1417. Aware of the economic realities that such a film imposes, I devote 90% of the scenario to the dialogues and interior sequences requiring only two to three characters. The production is conquered!
Pitch
Malheureusement, le projet ne verra pas le jour cette année-là : quelques semaines avant le tournage, la production m’annonce que l’argent récolté n’est pas suffisant. Je devrais donc me rabattre sur un autre projet de fin d’année qui, heureusement, me permettra de valider mon diplôme.
Unfortunately, the project will not see the light of day that year: a few weeks before the shooting, the company tells me that the money collected is not enough. I would therefore fall back on another end-of-year project which, fortunately, will allow me to validate my diploma.
Le Générique imaginé / The visuals imagined for the credits
Réalisé grâce à l’aide de la constructrice et plasticienne Justine Colas, ce générique fait de papiers et de pions a pour objectif de retranscrire l’ambiance de Whispers. En plus de ce premier visuel, je décide de dépenser mes économies dans la réalisation d’un teaser, espérant que cela aiderait le producteur à trouver des financements…
Produced with the help of the builder and plastic artist Justine Colas, this credits made of paper and pawns aims to transcribe the atmosphere of Whispers. In addition to this first visual, I decide to spend my savings on the production of a teaser, hoping that it would help the producer to find financing for the film…
Comme expliqué plus haut -et malgré son succès sur YouTube- le projet du film ne recevra pas les financements nécessaires. Retravaillé et prêt à être retravaillé encore, le scénario de Whispers attend patiemment dans mes tiroirs.
As explained above – and despite its success on YouTube – the project will not receive the necessary funding. Reworked and ready to be reworked again, the script for Whispers waits patiently in my drawers.
